Wildiaries Expeditions Coming Up and New Website

by simon

I’ve been busy updating my websites for the last few weeks and wanted to show you the new site. A few of you have remarked that you are finding it difficult to locate the forthcoming trips, so hopefully this will make it easier to find out about Wildiaries expeditions coming up.

You can find the new site online here: https://wildiaries-travel.com/. I’ll include this in all future updates.

The other thing you can do, if you haven’t already, is sign up separately to receive my blogs from https://www.wildiaries.com/. I have a new book coming out later this year and I occasionally publish stories about wildlife.

Raja Ampat, February 2025 (fully booked)

This trip is fully booked. I’m looking forward to sending information about the journey after we depart on the 10th February. The following seasons, we’re modifying these journeys a little.

Raja Ampat in Nov 2025 and beyond

In 2026, we’ll start in Raja Ampat before heading into the more remote regions of Kaimana and in 2027, head through Halmahera. In the spirit of running expeditions, we have a ship and can go anywhere! Seeing fresh destinations and discovering new places never before explored, is one of the joys of these trips.

Another option is to join us in November 2025 (see below) where we’ll be doing the ultimate Raja Ampat to Banda Sea adventure.

Komodo, July 2025 (2 cabins remaining)

We still have places available on this trip. Of course the highlight is always Whale Sharks. This year we’re starting from Labuan Bajo, which means we can arrive in Bali and take an internal 1-hour flight the same day. After we’re picked up by Pindito and made harbour clearance, we should be on site for some swims that very day! These are very special trips. Here is the trip report from the very memorable 2024 expedition:

Raja Ampat / Banda Sea, Nov 2025 (available)

This is one of my favourite routes as it takes in two extremes of location. Raja Ampat is exquisite and we pass through the Dampier Strait before heading south via Misool towards Koon Island off the eastern tip of Seram. We then enter the Banda Sea to look for Blue Whales and visit the Spice Islands, before journeying west to Ambon. This takes in all the best of the region and is a fantastic trip with a wide mixture of wildlife and cultural experiences.

Our route will be similar to this one we did in 2020:

Fiji Paradise Taveuni Special! Sep 25

I also have a couple of rooms left for a Fiji trip, where we’ve booked out Paradise Tavenui. Prices start fom $3850pp twin share. Details are also on the website.

Liveaboard Safety

We’re reminded once again of safety on Indonesian liveaboards. Yet another two vessel fires occcured in the last days of 2024. There are fewer than 70 liveaboards actively operating in Indonesia. In 2024, you might have had about a 15% chance of being on a liveaboard that would catch fire that year. These are life-threatening odds and why we take safety more seriously on Pindito than almost any other vessel.
