I’ve missed snorkelling the last few months. Between the weather being cold and being busy with work, it hasn’t been easy to get into the water. Today the temperature was a balmy 15 degrees and we headed down for a nice spring Scout Hut Snorkel. This site is in Mentone. If you’re looking for a nice easy place to swim, it’s good for kids. You can park on Sparks Street and walk a little way north. The track down to the hut is through a signed gate, which you walk around. Below there is a wave cut platform and a small area of beach. A jetty rarely has anyone fishing and a concrete ramp permits entering the water easily.
Today the highlight was a confiding big belly seahorse. In the shallows we also found a displaying male Painted Dragonet. Though he wouldn’t display for photos, he was very colourful. The shallows were very pretty.
